Ford launches new 1.0-liter EcoBoost Engine
Ford is expanding its small engine lineup in North America, adding new EcoBoost 1.0-liter three-cylinder units - the smallest engine ever built by Ford - and the brand new eight-speed automatic.
"Over the past five years, we record the investment in new plants and fuel-saving technology reaches, " said Derrick Kuzak, Ford vice president of global product development. "Today we have the latest operating line in the industry. And there's more."
The new three-cylinder engine will be available worldwide in the company of small cars. It will also play an important role in North America.
"Consumers tell us that you want cheap cars more miles per gallon now," said Kuzak. "Our new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will consumers who are looking for a hybrid fuel a new and inexpensive solution."
The final calibration of the new 1.0-liter EcoBoost is. Kuzak said the new engine will power and torque is equal to or better than most atmospheric 1.6-liter gasoline engines.
